Central to all candidates’ academic success is knowing their program requirements and advisee responsibilities. In the “Overview” section of this website you will see a list of advisor and advisee responsibilities. Please make sure to familiarize yourself with them. As the Director of Candidate Advisement and Services in the Ralph C. Wilson, Jr. School of Education, my goal is to help you meet your goals. Please use this website as a resource. If there is any way that I can assist you, please feel free to contact me at jduffy@sjfc.edu or at (585) 385-8439. I wish you all the best. Sincerely, Jennifer A. Duffy
MissionThe faculty and staff in the School of Education advise teacher candidates and see it as an important aspect of their professional responsibility. Academic advising is a collaborative relationship with the goal to develop meaningful educational goals for candidates. Advisors promote each candidate’s success at St. John Fisher College. The primary purpose of academic advising is to provide effective guidance so that candidates can maximize the educational opportunities available at St. John Fisher College and make critical decisions regarding education, career, and life goals. A key to the success of the academic advising relationship is the understanding that the advisees carry responsibilities in the advising process.
